Hey, I’m Jason West, and I’m glad that you’re here. I have 20+ years experience leading and developing teams as a Marine, entrepreneur, and business professional. Over this time, I have been a manager at Groupon, founded two companies and successfully sold one. Currently, I’m a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Marine Corps Reserves and have served in combat environments in Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
In other words, I know what I’m talking about when it comes to leadership.
A Letter from Jason

It has always been amazing to me how much conflicting information is published on leadership. Leading people can be an amazing and rewarding experience but it can also be an extremely frustrating and stressful experience.
Do you get a choice in the kind of experience you will have as a leader?
The short answer is, yes.
Human interaction is what makes leadership difficult. Your job is to understand the personalities and strengths of those on your team and ensure they mesh together as a cohesive team. A team helps each of the members of the team. A team has a common goal that they rally around to accomplish. A team is unselfish to the pursuit of their common goal. This doesn’t just happen. The leader needs to create and foster an environment where teamwork flourishes.
It takes a tremendous amount of confidence in yourself to be a successful leader. You have to know yourself as a leader. You must be very self aware of your strengths and weaknesses.
I’ve applied the U.S. Marine philosophy of Officers Eat Last, or servant leadership, to my life in the business world and have personally seen its benefits. I want to offer you a way to see those same benefits in your career. So, I’ve created a leadership development plan based on my experience. This plan will give you specific tools to transform yourself, as first-time manager, into a confident leader.
If you do your part by putting in the time and effort, you can use this plan to become the type of leader that inspires respect, loyalty and trust in your employees.
See you soon!
